From the recording Divine Enlightenment
Transcendence III (Redemption) is track 6 on the 2022 crossover classical Rod Skelley album, Divine Enlightenment and the third movement of the three part composition, Transcendence. The piece begins with a single note E played by a violin and then adds a richer set of chordal harmonies by a piano, strings, and keyboard and also adds percussion. Then the guitar enters with a mysterious arpeggiated theme in an odd 5/4 time signature. The guitar part employs an alternate guitar tuning (6-D, 5-A, 4-D, 3-G. 2-A, 1-D) with a second fret capo to change the usual tone and mood of the instrument. Instrumentation features classical guitar, keyboard, piano, percussion and strings in contrast to the lighter instrumentation in the first movement, The song was composed, performed and recorded by Rod Skelley. The music draws inspiration from composers like Lou Harrison, John Cage, Phillip Glass and Steve Reich.
Lyrics
Verse for Transcendence III: Redemption
“Weep no more” I shout into the night! The illusion that is the world will pass and the immeasurable light will illuminate the darkness. The spark of the divine within will fill the hollowness. Rich will be poor and the tyrants overthrown. Knowledge and wisdom will reveal the secrets as the shadows are obliterated by truth. Transcend into the light. Redemption has come.
