Transcendence II (The Descent of Sophia) is track 5 on the 2022 crossover classical Rod Skelley album, Divine Enlightenment and the second movement of the three part composition, Transcendence. The piece is a crossover composition that draws inspiration from diverse composers like Steve Reich, Phillip Glass, King Crimson and Pink Floyd. It begins with percussion, strings and keyboard in an eruption of excitement and adds a Robert Fripp type guitar part. The guitar part employs an alternate guitar tuning (6-D, 5-A, 4-D, 3-G. 2-A, 1-D) with a second fret capo to change the usual tone and mood of the instrument. The time signature in the second movement returns to a traditional 4/4. Instrumentation features classical guitar, keyboard, strings, and percussion.
