Song Spotlight Another Day:
Another Day is track 7 on the 2021 Infused album, Auto Epiphany. The words and music were composed by Rod Skelley. The recording on Auto Epiphany features Shawn Huss on vocals and acoustic guitar, Dave Carles on bass and Rod Skelley on electric guitar and drums.
Another Day is an exciting song about hoping for better days ahead despite all the changes and challenges that life throws at us. Although written in his youth, the song took on new meaning for Rod as the pandemic changed the world and evokes feelings of perseverance and resilience needed to face life’s difficulties. The song was originally written on an acoustic guitar with a simple guitar part and then a melody added. The harmonies of the original acoustic guitar part form the basis for the layered electric guitar parts and bass and drums add an optimistic groove.
The song was a favorite for the band when Infused first started forming in the early 2000s and really reflects the band’s style in those early days. Another Day was one of the first songs the band tried recording, unsuccessfully with home recording in that era, but by the time they went into the studio to record Beyond Cohesion, the song was put aside for other songs that were recorded on the album. The band did continue to play the song live and we are happy to bring the song to life in the studio.
Another Day Lyrics from Auto Epiphany
Fighting the boredom, holding back the pain
Looking for direction, trying to see through the rain
Do things get any better, life seems to regress
Downward spiral, I think I need to rest
Too complicated, can't handle things too fast
Too dictated, as if I'm being harassed
I look to the sky and dream of flying away
Into the clouds and the blue sky in
search of a brighter day
Another day, I look over the horizon
The scenes may change, but I want to get away
Another day, I look for a new day
I welcome change, I look to a brighter day
Array of disorder, history is a tragedy
Things look even darker when into the future
I see Trapped in the eternal present,
no way to hold on
The good times flash by and in an instant
they're gone
Things are not just fantasy,
our games are too real
People get harmed because people can feel
But on and on the game continues,
we're forced into our respective roles
Until the tragedy ends and we realize we were fools
Another day, I look over the horizon
The scenes may change, but I want to get away
Another day, I look for a new day
I welcome change, I look to a brighter day
