A new Rod Skelley album will release August 1, 2022 called Divine Enlightenment.  The album is a sequel to Meditation and Imagery that released in 2011 and features new versions of the songs Meditation and Imagery and Eclipse.  The music features classical guitar along with percussion, strings and piano. 

  

Divine Enlightenment is a spiritual journey of meditative music and themes exploring mystical thought.   The music draws stylistic influence from a diverse array of composers like Steve Reich, Beck, Phillip Glass, Moby, Trent Reznor, John Cage, Lou Harrison, Leo Brouwer, Henryk Gorecki, Cosmo Sheldrake, and Arvo Part. 

  

Each piece has verse that explores related mystical contemplations:

 

Secrets of the Eternal 

Keep these secrets and tell no one.  What is hidden will be revealed and what is known will be hidden.  Whoever has eyes shall see.  Whoever has ears shall hear.  Nothing hidden will not be revealed.  Plant the seeds into the earth.  Wear the garment of gnosis and see the divine within. 

Eclipse II: Alignment of the Spheres 

A shadow appeared in the abyss and from it a darkness emerged out of error.  Not a shadow passes into the eternal realm of truth.  The spheres align and the light shines from the plemora.   From the immeasurable light a power emerges to eclipse the darkness of the limitless chaos.  From that power emerges the divine light that was trapped within. 

Meditation and Imagery II: Transcendence 

Truth came into the world in images and is received that way.  The images are illuminated by light as we reflect and meditate on the secrets of the eternal.  Colors and illusions reflect in the water.  Our forms leave shadows on the earth.  The illusory self is a reflection of the divine within. 

Transcendence I: The Seven Circles 

The seven circles appear in the chaos.  The seven powers of the seven heavens of chaos came into being with God’s will so that the immortal pattern of what existed from the first will rule for eternity.  The seven powers shine through the darkness with immeasurable light and into the shadows of the abyss.  With the will of Pistis we transcend. 

Transcendence II: The Descent of Sophia 

Sophia, the wisdom and creator of light and the invisible spirit, gave birth to the imperfect, a misshapen creature who was hidden in the shadows.  Sophia descended into the shadows of imperfection and wept for divine mercy as her creation trapped the immortal into flesh.  

Transcendence III: Redemption 

“Weep no more” I shout into the night!  The illusion that is the world will pass and the immeasurable light will illuminate the darkness.  The spark of the divine within will fill the hollowness.  Rich will be poor and the tyrants overthrown.  Knowledge and wisdom will reveal the secrets as the shadows are obliterated by truth.  Transcend into the light.  Redemption has come. 

Mindfulness and Contemplation 

Contemplation on the immeasurable One.  A blessed One that gives life, knowledge and goodness.  Through mindfulness we come to know the One and gaze into the incomprehensible light that transcends the eternal.  The secrets just beyond the reach of our thoughts tell of the heavens and eternal realm.  Those who ascend above the world cannot fade.
